Musée Mécanique‘s debut Hold This Ghost has been a staple in my collection since its release in 2008. Longing for more music, I would try to get in touch with the band every now and then on Facebook, to inquire about their status and if we would get any new music… ever again. Thanks to Tender Loving Empire, the day has finally come: the album — the follow up to the incredible debut Hold This Ghost — that I’ve been desperately wanting to hear all these years is finally here. Musée Mécanique’s gorgeous new album From Shores of Sleep is now out everywhere, and you can purchase it here.
Somehow, Musée Mécanique has managed to exceed all expectations with From Shores of Sleep — a stunning album which, in the words of songwriter Sean Ogilvie, fuses “…personal struggles and observations of our combined lives,” making it more personal than anything the band has worked on before. I’m awestruck by this release, and if this is what I have hold onto for the next 5, or 10, years before the band releases anything new, then I will be satisfied.
Fellow fans of Midlake, Great Lake Swimmers, Other Lives and similar indie folk music — this is a must have in your collection; I (clearly) can’t recommend it enough.
